F.A.Q.
Do I have to do yoga to use this towel?
No, you don't have to, but you should (yoga is good for you!). A Baktuli towel is good for most applications because it is made of cotton. Its full body size makes it a great towel for the bath or beach. It's anti-microbial properties also makes it a fantastic towel to take traveling, camping and to your favorite ashram.
How do I take care of this towel?
Basic washer and dryer will do. Wash in cool or warm water, tumble dry on low. Wash colours separately, and best to not use fabric softeners, bounce sheets or dryer balls.
Why do you use cotton instead of microfiber?
Cotton is a naturally occurring product, whereas microfiber is essentially polyester. Polyester is man-made, does not come from nature, is non-recyclable; and during sweaty practice it picks up odor that stays in the fabric forever n' ever. If you throw a microfiber towel in the garbage and if it gets incinerated, toxic fumes get released in the atmosphere. If it doesn't get incinerated then it just sticks around the Earth, also forever n' ever. Cotton feels better on the skin and wears better over time.
Why do you have positive sayings?
Baktuli has noticed that there is a lot of negativity in the media these days. We use a towel everyday and a gentle reminder of good things start to change how we feel about ourselves and our relationships with others. Positive thought is a powerful thing.
Is this towel good for yogi grip?
The towel is good for grip, but for best results we recommend washing the towel a couple times first. During the manufacturing process a smoothing finish is added to the towel, which helps it run through the weaving machines. Baktuli towels have been designed from the ground up for yoga practice: the height of the pile, weave and weight of the cotton have been carefully considered for grip and absorbency. In practice, this towel is optimal for hot yoga.
What does Baktuli mean?
Baktuli (Bak-too-li) is easy to pronounce. Bhakti in Sanskrit is "devotion / love", and Tuli is an Indian slang for towel. So Baktuli is your devotional towel. Some wise Indian man told me this, he was wearing robes, was barefoot, had long hair and a long grey beard and everything.
