History
Sometimes it is our deepest passion that paves the way for an unexpected journey. This is the root of Baktuli's story.Baktuli draws its name in part from the Sanskrit word, Bhakti, meaning loving and devotional practice. And it was with love, sweat and devotion that Baktuli created its first line of stylish yoga towels.
Founder Henry Mah, struggled to find a hygienic yet stylish towel for hot yoga practice. From breaking apart home towel sets, to buying cheap towels or using studio rentals, no available option seemed to satisfy. Especially as the microfiber polyester-based towels began to pick up stubborn stink that couldn't be washed away.
Intrigued by the idea of designing a high end, hygienic and odour-free towel for yogi's and athletes, Baktuli went on a mission to find great materials and quality workmanship. Every detail was considered including absorbency, quick drying, versatility in use and more importantly, no stink. Woven into the towels are a variety of playful sayings to encourage the power of positive thinking.
Since Baktuli's debut during the 2010 Winter Olympics, the towel line has gone on to be carried by high end lifestyle stores and yoga studios across North America. Additional styles are currently in development, crafted with the same eye for quality that has become our calling card, and continuing to celebrate the passion for style and athleticism that inspired Baktuli in the first place.
